Spirillo

Built in the years 1979-1980 by members of the group "Sanfte Strukturen" (Dorothea Kalberer-Brenek, Marcel Kalberer, Wolfgang Zaumseil, Jonas Braun und Freunde)

The Spirillo is an piece of art of the late 70ties of the last century and although its been getting old, its still happy, inspiring, catching eyes.

The last two summers, 1979 and 1980, we lived in our caravan right at the location and worked with the gain, to let the citizens of Neugereut take part at the project Spirillo. After it was done, we had a lot of parties aroung the Spirillo, because we wanted to show them what the Spirillo means to that district and what they could do with it in the future.

The Spirillo is furthermore going to be a colourful accent inside the steeling, stoning and glasing architecture of Neugereut. It stands for the nature, which needed to be away for the district in the past. It wants to donate life, to make the poeple happier and more active and be part of the new open space.

The following presentation of its story and of the ideas of the artists should be a reason to think about the possibilites of the open space, to do somthing creative and try to gain the aritstic ideas of the citizens of Neugereut.

The sculpture does´nt exist anymore. In frame of the renovation of the new town centre, the Spirillo needed to move and the City of Stuttgart did´nt have the money for a new redesign.
